Sep 02,  · Brothers John and Michael Head come up with a gorgeous set of folk-tinged songs on Here's Tom with the Weather, their second release since reforming Shack after a short hiatus. Shack is a far cry from Michael Head's former cult band The Pale Fountains -although that band's delicate dreaminess informs the soft structures of these 12 tracks/5(14).

May 02,  · referencing Here's Tom With The Weather, LP, Album, MP, NCLP This sounds stunning on vinyl, probably more so than any of the other Shack albums, not sure why that is exactly. I assume more time and thought went into the mastering and pressing of HTWTW/5(43).

Song titles like the Lilac Time-esque "The Girl with the Long Brown Hair" and "Byrds Turn to Stone 8/

The album closes with Happy Ever After, which brings to mind the finer moments of Prefab Sprout with its shimmering strings and melancholy, yet proud, lyrics. Given Shack’s history it would be na ve to say that this is the album that will lead to the Brothers Head living happy ever after – if it was though, it would be one of the most.

Here's Tom With The Weather was recorded in just seven weeks and as a result, we get the opportunity to experience Shack's song writing at its most spontaneous and uncontrived.
